Ông Lư Khắc Cường lên cơn đau tim ngày 26/10 và qua đời lúc 0h10 ngày 27/10 (23h10 ngày 26/10 giờ Hà Nội) tại Thượng Hải, Đài truyền h́nh Trung ương Trung Quốc (CCTV) đưa tin, thọ 68 tuổi, hơn 7 tháng sau khi măn nhiệm thủ tướng Trung Quốc.

Ông Lư sinh năm 1955, quê ở tỉnh An Huy, Trung Quốc. Ông có bằng thạc sĩ luật và tiến sĩ kinh tế. Ông trở thành thủ tướng Trung Quốc tháng 3/2013 và đảm nhiệm chức vụ này trong 10 năm.
Trong 10 năm đương nhiệm, ông Lư dẫn dắt nền kinh tế lớn thứ hai thế giới vượt qua giai đoạn khó khăn, khi nợ công ngày càng tăng, căng thẳng thương mại với Mỹ và đại dịch Covid-19 bùng phát. Ông cũng liên tục thúc đẩy kinh tế tư nhân, đầu tư nước ngoài và đơn giản hóa các thủ tục hành chính.
Quốc hội Trung Quốc ngày 11/3 bầu ông Lư Cường, 63 tuổi, làm tân Thủ tướng, kế nhiệm ông Lư Khắc Cường. Sau khi măn nhiệm, ông Lư Khắc Cường trở về Thượng Hải nghỉ ngơi, theo Xinhua.
