Imane Khelif is a controversial boxer at the Olympics. She is one of two athletes who were still allowed to compete in the Olympics despite not meeting the gender standards. Last year, Khelif was disqualified just before the gold medal match at the world championships organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA).

She failed a DNA test. The organizers discovered that the athlete had an XY chromosome in her genome. However, the IBA is not involved in boxing at the Olympics. The IOC also does not recognize the IBA as an official body.

In that context, the IOC established the Paris 2024 Boxing Union (PBU) as a replacement. The PBU's rules and standards are more "loose" than the IBA's. Therefore, Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting (Chinese Taipei, 57kg) were allowed to participate in the Olympics.
