UN seeks $275M in aid for Myanmar quake survivors
 

A newly released appeal report has highlighted a serious funding shortfall for humanitarian relief, revealing that only about five percent of the $1.1 billion originally needed to support 5.5 million people has been secured. The report stresses the urgency of securing additional resources as needs continue to grow following recent disasters.

The updated appeal now focuses on assisting the most vulnerable 1.1 million people, particularly women and girls, who are at heightened risk of gender-based violence, food insecurity, and limited access to reproductive healthcare.

The United Nations also emphasized that more than 6.3 million people are in desperate need of aid, especially in regions devastated by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck on March 28, claiming over 3,600 lives.
