This is a very intelligent move of NATO. And here is why:

Russia says its air attacks are used to fight against IS. In the reality, its air bombings target the Syrian rebels.

NATO (as Turkey prepresents) now says they will start fighting against IS, but in the reality, they're attacking the current Syrian government troops.

This is what I call "Whatever you can do, I can do better"
