Same goes for China (except for the number of nuclear warheads). Neither side would win as the damage would be devastating......
If you honestly think the US can fend off all of China and Rus's nuclear weapons, then you are living in a fairytale. Both sides would reduce each other to smithereens along with about 40% of the global population.

In the theory, what you said isn't wrong. But it's just not how the war (involves nuclear weapons) would carry out. On the contrary, I would see
it more like a Wild West Shootout + missile defense system.
And you're right when saying that the US "cannot fend off all of China and Rus's nuclear weapons". But have you asked yourself the same question about Russia and China?
How many nuclear warheads can their missile defense system take down under the attacks of the U.S. and its allies?
Here are my thoughts:
1. There will never be a war in the first half of this century.
2. Elite advanced weapons are just to show who the boss is. And it also psychologically deters the opponents having any hasty decisions.
3. It's a war game, so the bluffing is a necessity thing to gain on your opponents (just to be certain your enemy would not call your bluff).
