US Government could force the website to close through various mechanisms, but the info would still be out there, and it would certainly pop up quickly again..... More importantly, if the US government shut down Wikileaks it would give a sense of importance to what that website is trying to do. People would be much more interested in info that the government is trying to QUASH and HIDE By leaving it up and going after the people who leak the documents, it removes some attention from the documents and puts it on the actions of the people, which can then damage their image....

Even though I fundamentally hate Wikileaks, the site is well within technical rights. Shutting it down is tyrannical and disagrees with American principles.....
