1) Basically put, your body try to maintain itself in a very limited homeostatic range
2) If you throw a monkey wrench into it by going doing enemas, "cleansing" your intestine/bowel, extreme pH fluid intake and etc ..., you will only cause more damage with potential increase in opportunistic concentration of a specific chemicals, hormones, bacterial flora or worst actual physical damage to an organ system.
