Ngày 26/1, ông Trump nói rằng mức thuế “lên tất cả các mặt hàng” của Colombia sẽ được áp dụng ngay lập tức, ban đầu là 25% và sẽ tăng thành 50% sau một tuần.
Trên Truth Social, ông Trump viết:

US President Donald Trump has announced a 25% tariff and sanctions on Colombia after the country's president refused to allow two US military planes carrying deportees to land in Colombia.
On January 26, Mr. Trump said that tariffs on "all goods" from Colombia would be imposed immediately, initially at 25% and rising to 50% after a week.
On Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote:
"These measures are just the beginning. We will not allow the Colombian government to violate its legal obligations to accept and return the criminals they force to the United States."
He also announced emergency sanctions against Colombia's treasury, banks and financial sector.
