Một người đàn ông Philippines chết sau khi bị phạt squat 300 lần do vi phạm quy định cách ly dịch Covid-19 ở thành phố General Trias, tỉnh Cavite, Philippines.
Nạn nhân là anh Darren Manaog Peñaredondo, 28 tuổi, chịu hình phạt sau khi bị bắt gặp đang mua nước uống sau 18h tối ngày 31/3, theo Guardian.
Việc đi ra ngoài vào thời điểm này đã vi phạm lệnh giới nghiêm của thành phố General Trias - nơi đang trong tình trạng “tăng cường cách ly xã hội chống Covid-19”.
“Peñaredondo và một người bạn bị đưa đến Plaza Malabon, trước hội trường thành phố, để chống đẩy 100 lần vì vi phạm quy định cách ly Covid-19”, cô Reichelyn Balce, người thân của anh Peñaredondo, nói với Rappler:

"All day, he couldn't go, he just crawled," said Ms. Balce. Then he started having convulsions and his heart stopped beating. He died at 10 p.m. on April 1 ".
Lieutenant Colonel Marlo Nillo Solero, chief city police officer of General Trias, told Rappler: “There is no such punishment for those violating the Covid-19 quarantine rule. Instead, we will propagandize, persuade is the main thing ”.
Mr. Antonio Ferrer, mayor of the city of General Trias, said local authorities are investigating the case.
The Philippine government increased the period of social quarantine until April 12 as the number of infections continued to increase in the capital hospital and many remote areas.
