Old  Default Cựu Ngoại trưởng Mỹ có thể ra tranh cử Tổng thống
Khi nói về cuộc tranh cử Tổng thống Mỹ vào năm 2020. Cựu Ngoại trưởng Mỹ John Kerry cho biết khả năng ông có thể ra tranh cử chức Tổng thống. Khi Tổng thống đương nhiệm Donald Trump kết thúc nhiệm kỳ.

Trong cuộc phỏng vấn với CBS News hôm 2-9, Cựu Ngoại trưởng Mỹ John Kerry cho biết ông không loại trừ khả năng chạy đua vào ghế Tổng thống Mỹ vào năm 2020, khi Tổng thống đương nhiệm Donald Trump kết thúc nhiệm kì (2021).

"Tôi thực sự không đang nghĩ về chuyện đó", ông Kerry nói. "Những gì chúng tôi (đảng Dân chủ) cần làm là tập trung vào năm 2018 (bầu cử giữa nhiệm kì Quốc hội Mỹ vào tháng 11). Chúng ta cần phải giành lại niềm tin của đất nước để tiến lên theo một hướng tốt hơn".

Ông John Kerry, trước khi làm Ngoại trưởng Mỹ dưới thời ông Obama, đã có gần 3 thập kỉ phục vụ tại Quốc hội Mỹ với tư cách thượng nghị sĩ bang Massachusetts. Ông từng chạy đua vào ghế Tổng thống Mỹ vào năm 2004, song thất bại trước cựu Tổng thống George W. Bush.

Ông Kerry, sinh năm 1943, được xem là một nhân vật nổi bật trong chính trường Mỹ, từng hoạt động chống lại các cuộc chiến phi nghĩa mà Mỹ tiến hành ở Việt Nam sau vài năm tham chiến.

Đây cũng không phải lần đầu tiên ông Kerry đề cập đến khả năng tái tranh cử Tổng thống Mỹ. Hồi tháng 1, một tờ báo Israel đưa tin rằng ông Kerry nói với các quan chức Palestine ông đang cân nhắc việc chạy đua vào Nhà Trắng lần hai.
