Vậy là Thượng nghị sĩ bang Arizona John McCain đă qua đời. Mấy hôm trước ông quyết định rời khỏi bệnh viện về nhà, ông muốn dành thời gian c̣n lại cho gia đ́nh. Vậy mà...

Văn pḥng Thượng nghị sĩ John McCain vào hôm qua (25.8, theo giờ địa phương) đă đưa ra thông báo: "Ông John Sidney McCain III đă từ trần vào lúc 16h28 ngày 25.8.2018 giữa ṿng tay của người vợ Cindy và gia đ́nh. Trong suốt 60 năm qua, ông đă phục vụ nước Mỹ một cách chân thành nhất".

Trước đó vào tháng 7.2017, ông McCain đă được chẩn đoán có một khối u nguyên bào thần kinh đệm đa h́nh - GBM (glioblastoma) - trong năo. Đây là dạng u năo ác tính phổ biến nhất và có tỉ lệ tử vong cao nhất.

Trong quá tŕnh điều trị căn bệnh ung thư năo, tháng 5 vừa qua, ông McCain c̣n phải nhập viện để chữa trị bệnh nhiễm trùng đường ruột. Trong một đoạn phỏng vấn được phát sóng trên đài NPR cũng trong tháng 5, ông McCain đă nói rằng "Tôi không biết ḿnh c̣n sống được bao lâu nữa".

Theo lời của gia đ́nh ông McCain, vị Thượng nghị sĩ Đảng Cộng ḥa đă kiên cường chống chọi đến cùng với căn bệnh ung thư quái ác. Trong những ngày cuối đời, ông McCain đă tự ḿnh đưa ra quyết định ngưng tiếp nhận điều trị tại bệnh viện.

Làm bất cứ chuyện ǵ chỉ lo lắng mấy em trẻ và ông/bà già thôi tại v́ họ không sợ trời không sợ đất.
Ông ta đă lớn tuổi rồi, nhiệm kỳ cuối cùng của đời ông ta. Ông ta không sợ cuộc đời chính trị của ông sau này sẽ đi về đâu. C̣n mấy em trẻ, hoặc hơi già không dám nói thẳng thừng sợ số phận chính trị sẽ không được như ư muốn. Thương nghị và hạ nghị viện nếu người ta muốn th́ cứ nói đâu ai cấm, đâu ai bị cắt chức v́ bất đồng ư kien v́ họ là được dân địa phương bầu lên thay tiếng nói của họ.

Đây là nơi chia buồn nên ḿnh không muốn bàn căi nhiều .Ḿnh chỉ nói một điều : những kẻ quen thói a dua ,gió chiều nào theo chiều đó ,những người mang tiếng nghị gật th́ dù bao nhiêu tuổi ,cũng không v́ vậy mà cổ họ cứng lên được để khỏi phải gật gù .
