BREAKING: Khi Quốc hội họp để kiểm phiếu của Đại cử tri đoàn và xác nhận Tổng thống đắc cử Joe Biden là nhà lãnh đạo mới của quốc gia vào thứ Tư, người ủng hộ Trump phản đối kết quả bầu cử đã xông vào tòa Capitol, buộc Phó Tổng thống Mike Pence phải đào thoát ra khỏi Thượng viện.

Hàng trăm người ủng hộ Trump đã vượt qua hàng rào kim loại ở phía sau của tòa nhà Capitol vào khoảng 1 giờ chiều thứ Tư, Washington Post đưa tin. Họ vượt nhân viên an ninh và phá hàng rào trong khi hô vang “USA! USA!"

Cảnh quay không tưởng của người biểu tình đánh lộn với các sĩ quan cảnh sát liên bang ngay sau đó bắt đầu tràn ngập Twitter, khiến các truy vấn như "Vệ binh quốc gia ở đâu" bắt đầu thịnh hành trên mạng, cùng với các báo cáo rằng nhân viên đã tạm thời sơ tán khỏi hai tòa nhà trên Đồi Capitol.
